The Wilmington Police Department constructed a memorial dedicated to New Hanover County law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The memorial is located in front of Wilmington Police headquarters at 615 Bess St, Wilmington, NC. It is a special place for family members, friends, fellow officers, and citizens to visit, reflect, and honor our brave fallen officers.
WPRA was designated by Police Chief Ralph Evangelous (retired) as the organization to receive donations to build the memorial. Additional funds are still desired to set up a maintenance fund for the memorial. For more information, please contact a member of the board.
Every year in May, typically the week before National Police Week, we hold a local memorial ceremony to honor our fallen heroes.
